Do you fear that divorce has to be ugly?
Very few people get married or have children with the expectation that their relationship will end in divorce. Typing "divorce lawyer" into Google is one of the scariest searches most people will make. In media, we see the horrible images of divorce involving fighting, conflict, and betrayal. To be honest, it can be hard to imagine that things could be "nice" when there has been a lot of conflict.
There is a peaceful alternative!
My name is Lani Baron and my company, Center for Mediated Divorce, provides a different kind of divorce service. We understand there will be confusion, hurt feelings, and conflict. We also know that the best, most cost effective, and least stressful route to moving on with both of your lives is avoiding court, litigation, and the kind of divorce method that pits you against each other. We pride ourselves in being compassionate. We do our best to provide you with the help you need to end your marriage in a respectful and peaceful way.
Mediated Divorce is Different.
Our goal is to assist you in reaching a divorce settlement that you can both live with by helping you negotiate in a productive manner and informing you about the law. We can answer every question as it comes up and act as that neutral third party that can help you identify and work through the areas of disagreement in your case. Our job isn't to take sides- but to share the law with you and help you communicate in the most effective way possible to get to an agreement that works best for both of you.
We believe that being cordial helps people reach settlement. However, you do not need to be friends with your spouse for mediation to work. Each of you need only share the common goal of settlement. We are always happy to work with couples in high conflict, but our focus will be on moving you forward out of the conflict toward settlement. Nobody really wants to live in a constant state of misery, anxiety, anger, and resentment!
